We don't ever want to fix the issues with the false portrayals of Samus and Ridley in the Prime series that make it's placement in the Metroid Timeline look stupid and illogical. We don't want the series to evolve and expand. This quote basically translates to "We don't really care about the progression/evolution of the Prime series. Specifically, we have decided to have the Producer, Kensuke Tanabe, work in trust and collaboration with the studio that developed the original Metroid Prime series, Retro Studios in the United States, and restart development from the beginning.īy collaborating and developing with Retro Studios, we believe we can make this game something that will meet our fans' expectations. We have decided to reexamine the development structure itself and change it. Here's a couple important quotes from the video that proves/supports this: For proof of what I'm talking about, here's the video where Nintendo announced Prime 4's dilemma and delay: They're not at all interested in 2D Zelda, Metroid Prime made by anyone but Retro, or 2D Mario anymore. Only on whatever will get them the big bucks! 3D Open Air Zelda, Retro Studios Only Metroid Prime, 3D Mario, and etc. They have no sense of love, passion, or respect for their own work anymore. Nintendo only cares about money now and nothing more. Since Iwata died, Nintendo has been driving themselves to ground. Nintendo is killing every one of their franchises one by one and they know it because they simply don't care anymore. Then there's whole 2D Zelda conundrum that I've talked about numerous times. We'd be lucky to even get a revived Metroid Dread as hinted in Samus Returns at this point. Seriously, when's the last time we had a new DK game? Or a new 2D Mario (not counting Mario Maker)? And hell, a new 2D Metroid? Yeah, we got Samus Returns in 2017, but that was a remake of an old game. Only Yoshi, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Kirby, Smash, Splatoon, and etc. We're stuck waiting another stinking decade for this game now.Īs I've said in the past, Nintendo doesn't care about Metroid, Zelda, or really any of the big four anymore. It's not going to see the light of day anytime soon. Let's face it, Prime 4 is now officially as dead as Metroid Dread now. And thinking for several years at this point. So, with that said, we might not even see Metroid Prime 4 for a very long time. They don't have time for Metroid Prime 4. We all know that before this Retro has already been busy with a completely different game. Only this time, with the original devs of Retro Studios at the helm again. Now especially that Nintendo has now confirmed that Metroid Prime 4 is now starting back at the beginning of development. The anticipation for this game was nuts all throughout 2017 post E3, all last year (2018), started to die after E3 2018, more so after Game Awards 2018, and now this year, the hype is practically dead now. As you all know, Metroid Prime 4 was in development for Nintendo Switch by Bandai Namco since sometime before E3 2017.
